How to Change Digital Ocean Droplet Location

Step by step guide on how to change your droplet location.

STEP 1

Power off the Droplet: You cannot move a Droplet that is powered on, so you need to power it off first.

STEP 2

Take a snapshot: If you want to keep a backup of the Droplet’s current state, you can take a snapshot.

STEP 3

Create a new Droplet in the desired location: Go to the DigitalOcean control panel and create a new Droplet in the desired location.

STEP 4

Restore the snapshot: If you took a snapshot, restore it to the new Droplet.

STEP 5

Reconfigure the Droplet: You may need to reconfigure the network settings or IP addresses on the new Droplet.

STEP 6

Test the new Droplet: Once everything is set up, test the new Droplet to make sure it’s working as expected.

STEP 7

Destroy the old Droplet: Finally, destroy the old Droplet to avoid being charged for two Droplets.
